Chapter Thirteen

Nate shut the front door, stopping in the entry. His hands smoothed up her arms imprinting the strength and caring of this man on her soul. Unbuttoning the top button of her shirt, he lowered his head, kissing the hollow of her throat, circling it slowly with his tongue. The emotions he unleashed tumbled and tossed like a twig in a tornado.

“I didn’t invite you here today to make love to you, but it’s what I want to do. If you’re not okay with that, let me know now.”

“Where’s your bedroom?” Lauren couldn’t think of anything she wanted more than to have this man inside her, filling her, being one with her. No more hesitancy in his touch. No holding back. No denying what he felt for her.

He planted one more soul-searing kiss on her lips, then her feet left the ground. Heavy steps on the stairs. Impressions. Dark, heavy furniture, masculine, a bed the size of a football field. He set her down beside the bed, the back of her knees touching the mattress.

Strong arms encircled her. His mouth teased down the column of her neck. Shivers of delight seized her as he lingered on the sensitive hollow beneath her ear, tasting her with the tip of his tongue. He turned what was a dam ready to overflow with passion into a controlled release, slowing the flood, letting them both savor the moment. Shaking fingers removed clothing, slowly, luxuriously. Sleeves skimmed down her arms, guided by calloused palms on soft skin. The shirt floated down to the floor like a feather off a tall building. He knelt, lowering the zipper of her jeans. Soft kisses ringed her navel. Every touch celebrated her.

Sitting her on the bed with a gentle push, he pulled off her boots and socks, taking time to massage her feet. Magic hands worked their way up her legs. She arched back on her hands. So decadent. Teeth softly nipped her inner thigh through the fabric of her jeans. A purr reverberated deep in her chest. His hands slid under her butt and guided her to stand. Her abdomen rested against the silky softness of his hair. His hands slid down her hips, taking her jeans with them, leaving her in only her bra and panties. His mouth rained kisses down her thighs to her knees.

He stood up and moved back. It felt like he was drinking her in, absorbing her. Slowly he started unbuttoning his shirt, a strip tease just for her. Her butt hit the bed when her knees could no longer support her weight. Her mouth went dry. This was better than a birthday. Better than Christmas. The most amazing gift ever being unwrapped before her, layer by layer. Tantalizing. Breath-taking. Heart-pounding.

His shirt flipped through the air like a slow-motion Frisbee. His fingers lifted the hem of his t-shirt, provocatively, one rib at a time, revealing abs so ripped they made her want to weep, a sprinkling of blond hair that, like an arrow, dived below his waistband.
